This collection presents a large series of original photographs taken during the liberation of France in 1944. These images, primarily produced by U.S. Army Signal Corps photographers, document a wide range of military operations, troop movements, civilian interactions, and battlefield conditions across the French theater. Due to the loss or absence of original captions, these photographs are presented here without individual descriptions. No attempt has been made to assign specific locations, units, or dates where such information could not be verified with certainty. This approach ensures the preservation of historical accuracy and avoids the introduction of speculative or misleading data. The images are therefore provided as a raw archival collection, intended for research, reference, and further study. The European Center of Military History encourages researchers and specialists to contribute, where possible, to the identification and documentation of these photographs.
